The Assembly elections is India's largest state are approaching fast. The political parties have already started declaring and identifying their candidates in the respective constituencies. The political situation in UP as of today is quite fluid and every party is trying to work on the winning formula. There are four major political parties in UP viz. Congress, BSP, Samajwadi and BJP besides the RLD(Ajit Singh's party having the decisive vote bank in the Western UP). Samajwadi which once had the full support of the muslim minorities has lost the confidence of the muslims after Mulayam Singh Yadav roped in Kalyan Singh and this was evident from the result of the 2009 Lok Sabha election where the muslims of the UP have sent a very strong message to the entire nation that they can tolerate anything but not the demolishers of the Babri Masjid and Mulayam was almost routed out in the elections. The muslims enmasse voted for Congress and the Congress much against its own expectations bagged 21 seats. For Congress, 2012 elections are of very much significance especially after setback in Bihar. The situation in Bihar was different than what it is in UP. The UP which was once a stronghold of Congress drifted away from Congress after the Babri Masjid's demolition and the anger of the people was mainly on P.V.Narsimha Rao which ultimately resulted in the damage to the Congress party. The people of UP and the country know it very well that the Congress is the only secular party in the country which protects the rights of the all the segments of the community and the muslims especially have always been with Congress except after the Babri Masjid demolition in 1992 which was a temporary phase and it was the conspiracy of Narsimha Rao to defame the Congress Party by colluding with the RSS as he was a RSS cadet himself. Soon the Congress party and the people of the country realised this conspiracy and the media too reported in an unbiased manner exposing the nexus between Narsimha Rao-BJP-RSS.
The Congress now will be going to polls in UP on the developmental agenda as for the last twenty years the development of the state has almost come to the grinding halt. The congress now has to swing into action and rope in and mobilise all their resources to reach out to the comman man. The best part of the young and the dynamic leadership of Rahul Gandhi is that he beleives that the function of leader is to produce more leaders and he is emphasising more on the honesty and the integrity of the young leaders. My close interaction with the people of UP has revealed that they want a CHANGE and they see their leader in Rahul Gandhi. I asked most of the people why they like Rahul Gandhi's leadership. The answer was common. They all said that he is a selfless leader with highest amount of intrigrity and he has a heart which beats for a common man. But with this the congress can't afford to be complacent. They need to strive hard to realise the Mission 2012. Good Luck Congress and Good Luck Rahul ji.
