Congress Passes Lokpal bill and opposition defeats the constitutional status

Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office V Narayanasamy today moved the Lokpal Bill in the Rajya Sabha.  While moving the Bill, Narayanasamy said that the UPA was committed to tackling corruption.
Shri V.Narayana Swamy

The credit for the Lokpal Bill goes to the UPA Government.  For 40 years, discussions on Lokpal Bill have been held for a bill to help citizens who have many complaints. In April 2011, civil society organizations said Lokpal Bill should come as soon as possible. So, Government tried new experiment - to get views of civil society like Anna Hazare and others. So Finance Minister and others worked with them on Lokpal Bill. Both sides deliberated on it. Finally the UPA government under the sincere leadership of Smt.Sonia Gandhi ji introduced the Bill in Lok Sabha yesterday and the bill was passed.
The Lokpal will have chairperson and eight members. This bill has not been brought all of a sudden. Many deliberations were held. Two meetingswere held with the political parties. They were taken into confidence.  The congress felt that the minorities also should be given their due representation in the Lok pal and here was lot of demand for reservation for SC/ST, women, minorities. Therefore it has also been incorporated in the  bill.  On the issue of Prime Minister, he represents 120 crore population of India and he is the face of our country when he goes abroad.  But unfortunately, there was demand for t from some circles that PM also should be brought under the ambit of the Lokpal. PM also said he should be brought under ambit of Lokpal. So he is covered with five exclusions for matters like national security, atomic energy and space.
The complaints against PM were to be sanctioned by 3/4 majority of Lokpal, but now it has been changed to 2/3 majority. The Lokpal Bill was passed in Lok Sabha on Tuesday to create an anti-corruption body. However, it failed to give it a Constitutional status. It failed mainly because of the parties like Samajwadi, BSP,RJD and even some of the members of the BJP as they stayed out of parliament and were not present when the bill came up for passing. The Constitution (116th Amendment) Bill was defeated by a determined Opposition.  A Constitution Amendment Bill to be passed should have more than 50 per cent of the members of the House present and of them, two-third support is mandatory.
This raises many questions about the seriousness of the parties like SP, BJP and the BSP. It has been proved once again that it is only the congress party who is serious and determined in tackling the issue of corruption and when it came to actually getting the constitutional status, these so called parties abstained from attending the parliament and their absence resulted in the bill getting defeated.

Rahul Gandhi - The Hope of Young India

Rahul Gandhi

"There is a work that my father had started, a dream he had dreamt. I come to you today saying allow me to turn that dream into reality" - Rahul Gandhi
The name Rahul Gandhi has become synonymous with the new face of Indian politics; a young brand, a messiah of the poor, a highly motivated scion of the Gandhi family, aiming to highlight India's position as a global frontrunner.
He was 14 when his grandmother, Smt.Indira Gandhi, was assassinated, and 21 when his father Shri Rajiv Gandhi was killed in a Tamil Tiger terrorist attack on a Congress election rally. After completing a post-graduate degree at Cambridge, he joined a London management consultancy firm and drifted between jobs before finally accepting an offer to stand for India's Lok Sabha lower chamber of parliament.
In an interview as he campaigned for his mother's own Uttar Pradesh by-election in 2006, he said it was his father's assassination that convinced him to follow in his footsteps
Having been born into a family that has had a major influence on the course India took after winning independence from the British settlers, Rahul is no stranger to the world of politics.
In March 2004, he announced his entry into politics by contesting the May 2004 elections from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh for the Lok Sabha. In his first interview with media, he condemned "divisive" politics in India, saying that he would try to reduce caste and religious tensions.
In January 2006, at a convention of the Indian National Congress in Hyderabad, thousands of party members asked for Gandhi to take a more prominent leadership role in the party and demanded that he address the delegates. He said "I appreciate and I am grateful for your feelings and support. I assure you I will not let you down", but asked for patience and declined to immediately seek a high profile role
Shri Rahul Gandhi was appointed a General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee on 24 September 2007 in a reshuffle of the party secretariat. In the same reshuffle, he was also given charge of the Youth Congress and the National Students Union of India. Rahul Gandhi implemented some innovative methodologies in the process of choosing leadership in Youth Congress. Rahul Gandhi toured the country with a mission to strengthen the Youth Congress and NSUI. He held interaction sessions with the young buds in various colleges and universities. This new approach helped create a fresh enthusiasm among the young party workers and sympathizers. Rahul Gandhi always believed that unless the youth of this country become active in Indian politics and be a part in the process of development, India cannot prosper further.
In 2009 elections, I was actively involed in the Uttar Pradesh Politics and working at the grass root level in the western Uttar Pradesh. I have seen myself the love of a common man for the Gandhi family. When Shri Rahul ji was coming to Moradabad on May 9, 2009 to address the public meeting of congress candidate Mohammed Azharuddin, I could see the sea of humanity all over and I was convinced that the people of UP wanted a change and the Congress won 21 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh in 2009. This could become possible due to the singular effort of Shri Rahul ji. The beauty of Rahul ji is, he never makes any statement for political gains. Unfortunately, it has become a practice in the Indian Politics that whatever the Congress party does, the opposition simply criticizes and try to mislead the people and this is not the way the politics should run in the largest democracy in the world. Rahul ji is always calm and believes in action. He is a no non sense man.  He has made a point straight  that he will never compromise on the unity and integrity of the country and will fight the divisive and the fascist forces, until they are defeated in their aims and the objectives.  He believes that  unless one practices what one preaches, his/her words will not have an impact. He believes that more and more YOUTH should join politics and in order to encourage them, he initated the process of  the internal democracy in the party  against all odds and with a lot of opposition from the old block within the party, he went ahead and achieved the desired results.
Shri Rahul Gandhi’s vision of ‘Internal Democracy’ in the Congress party’s Youth and the Students’ wings has resulted in reforms and transformations never seen before. From open memberships to internal elections under impartial observers, the young Gandhi aims to infuse transparency and the concept of talent management and performance measurement in the organisation, a huge effort to herald a positive change in one of India’s oldest political parties.
We have been witnessing  good economic growth and all round development since the time UPA came into government in 2004 but India still needs to go a very long way and we need many more reforms. The present UPA government is doing extremely well on all fronts  despite the political compulsions of a collision which speaks volumes about the commitment of the present UPA government and its Chairperson Smt.Sonia Gandhi. The Congress Party has been able to reach the common man through the schemes of the UPA and the appeal and charishma of Rahul Gandhi.   Excellent foundation was laid down  by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and the good work was continued by courageous  Indira ji.  When the time had come to shift our policy to compete with the global forces, we have embraced liberalization holding an upper hand in key areas of public importance and it led India to a new path, the path of development and progress. We have been witnessing robust FDI, employment to the highly qualified Indians in India and the chain impact When the country’s secularism was facing the threat from the right wing forces and the minorities had started feeling insecured in our own country,  Smt.Sonia Gandhi, though not politically very inclined stepped out of her house and took the mentle in her hands to champion the cause of minorities and to defeat the intention of the fascist forces who were out to malign not only the image of a secular India, but to spread the hatred among the peace loving Hindus and the muslims.  Smt. Sonia Gandhi has taken the lead in her own style and started  re-building exercise of the nation which was otherwise going to become from a Secular India to a Communal India at the hands of the right wing forces.
When she entered the politics, the BJP and its allies started alleging that she is out to grab the power, but she proved all of them wrong that she is not her for power but to serve the country and the nation. She had got the opportunity to become the Prime Minister of the country twice once in 2004 and then again in 2009, and on both the occasions, she never accepted the post.
It is for sure and I strong believe that the people of this country are very eager to see Shri Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Minister of the country. Many believe that Shri Rahul Gandhi is the only hope of this country to bring the required reforms and  take India to the next level with the genext. It is time that India needs a charismatic and young leader in future and the leader of the future India is Rahul Gandhi, under whose leadership, the country will grow and prosper, the minorities will feel secured, the poor and downtrodden will get meaning of a new life, the youth will get their leader. And That’s Rahul Gandhi.

Non Muslim Indians in GCC Well Off than Indian Muslims

                                                               Mohammed Saifuddin
An article by Mohammed Saifuddin as published in Yahing.com
Generally it is thought that the earnings of expatriates in the Gulf countries have changed the lives of Indian Muslims in a big way. It is undoubtedly true that the economic and financial condition of Muslims in several parts of India has improved after the Gulf’s petrol boom. But it is not correct to say that Gulf countries became pasturing land for the Muslims only. These countries opened the floodgate of opportunities everyone irrespective of caste, creed or religion. The trend of migrating to Gulf equally benefited all the communities in India. Majority of well off Indians in Gulf countries are non Muslims.

The non Muslim Indians in the six GCC countries may be lesser in number compared to their Muslim counterparts but, it is irrefutable fact that even in Gulf countries the non-Muslims are much better-off than Muslims when compared to their living conditions and standard of living. The majority of Indian Muslims in Gulf countries are semi skilled workers and blue collar employees. Where as, the majority of non Muslims are holding key positions in different sectors and also dominate the retail business.

It may be unbelievable for few, but the reality is that non-Muslims on key positions outnumber Indian Muslims in various sectors like banking, finance, hospitality, transportation; healthcare etc.

The above facts are not just assumptions, they are real facts derived from the figures emerged after analyzing the list of one hundred powerful Indians in six GCC countries. The list is compiled and published by Dubai based English magazine Arabian Business. Famous for its listings of Richest Arabs, Arabian Business Rich list, Efficient CEOs, Smart Banks; the magazine brought out its first ever list of Gulf’s hundred most influential Indians.
Can you imagine what could be the number of Muslims in the list of 100 influential Indians in GCC? You may think they dominate the list or you may assume that they make at least half of the list. Hold on! You may be surprised but the reality is that they can’t even make 20 % of it! The number of Muslims among 100 powerful Indians in GCC is just 18.

The power list of influential Indians is based on how much impact the actions of one person can have on others, hence the more impact, the more influence. The publishers considered Indians from across the six Gulf nations Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman from all walks of life. List includes the big names from more than 20 sectors including business, media, entertainment, law, academia, arts, fashion, music etc.

Among the 18 powerful Muslim Indians included in the list, 13 belongs to UAE, three from Saudi Arabia and each from Qatar and Oman.
When Maghanmal Pancholia arrived in the UAE seven decades ago aboard a Chinese cargo ship he was looking for a new life and a business opportunity. Renowned as the oldest expatriate in the emirate, he eventually rose up through the business ranks and became one of the most influential players in the Indian community. As the Chairman of Arabian Trading Agency, he got the fifth position in the list.
Pancholia is believed to a trend setter for Indian expatriates to make their fortune in the retail business. This trend spread among Indians in UAE so stead fasted that the list is dominated by those associated with the retail sector. Thirty retailers make their entry to the list.
The Managing Director of retail giant Emke Group Yousuf Ali MA took the top spot and emerged as the most influential Indian in Gulf. The retail mogul sits atop a business empire that owns Lulu Hyper Markets and employs 22,000 people from over 29 countries. The group has a turnover of more than $3.5 bn globally. It is one of the largest Indian-owned conglomerates in the Gulf.
Most of the Indian Muslims in Gulf are employed in private sector. Only few of them tend to do business. Among thirty Indians representing retails business, only five are Muslims, including the top listed Yousuf Ali.
Even though Gulf region is regarded as the pioneer of Islamic Banking and Sharia compliant Financial Services, the majority of Indians playing vital role in the boardrooms of international and local banks in the region belongs to other communities. While 17 top executives from Banking and Finance sector got listed as powerful Indians, surprisingly the list does not include any Muslim! Just one Mustafa Vayazil appears in the list but represents Insurance sector and not banking. He is the Managing Director of Gargash Insurance, UAE.
Only two Muslims appear among the fifteen big shots listed from the construction and real estate sector. While P Mohammed Ali, Vice Chairman, Gulfar Company, Oman stands as the sixth powerful Indian in GCC, Syed Salahuddin, Managing Director, ETA Ascon & Star Group holds twentieth position in the list.
The list includes four names for Saudi Arabia. President of Indian Overseas Congress, Saudi Arabia, Dr. Asaar Khan find place on 23rd slot in the list. Founding Member of International Indian School Jeddah Dr. Rafiuddin Fazulbhoy is placed on 53rd position. The Kingdom’s Royal Physician Dr. Majiduddin Kazi is on 83rd position. Managing Director of Nasser Al Hajri Corporation in Eastern Province, Dr. Ravi Pillai is placed on number 90.
It may tend some readers to surprisingly raise eyebrows but Indian women proved their prowess even in the deserts of Arabia. Five women became the part of the powerful Indians list. They represent Healthcare, Media and Marketing sectors. The top among these women is the founder of Zulekha Hospital and Healthcare Group, UAE Dr. Zulekha Daud. She left India 40 years ago and came to UAE with a dream to offer affordable quality medical facilities to all. She set up the Zulekha Healthcare Group in 1961 which now employs around more than a thousand staff and treats over 550,000 patients every year. The Group has expanded and includes a new 88-bed hospital in Dubai, four medical centers and three pharmacies. This year, Daud signed a $24m financing deal with the World Bank to provide affordable hospital care in India and the UAE
Shobha Menon, Second among women in the power list, is from Advertising industry. Currently CEO of Equity Advertising, she carved a niche for herself in the industry during the last two decades. When she joined multinational advertising agency, Fortune PromoSeven in 1990, its Regional MD Donal Kilelea warned that if she does not perform well in two weeks, she will be sacked. She progressed in her career with many leaps and bounds to grow and went on to become the legend of Dubai’s advertising scenario.
Another medico Dr. Sarita Kapoor is on the 82nd position. A Dubai based obstetrician and gynecologist has been serving the vital needs of women in the UAE for the last fifteen years. She was trained at various institutions in Chennai, Singapore and Germany and used her experience to help local couples with infertility with the latest international high-tech procedures. In her spare time, she also carried out substantial charitable work.
Social worker in the Healthcare sector, Gulshan Kavarana, Director, Special Families Support (SFS) Group makes the position at 92. The Dubai-based mother of two has made it her mission to help children with special needs, particularly after her daughter was diagnosed with autism. She now heads the SFS Group, which was founded in 1999. Kavarana helped hundreds of parents to cope with their children having special needs.
Model and Fashion Graduate, founder of Queen Bee Production, Uma Ghosh Deshpande, got a slot on 93rd position. She also has a fashion label, clothes from which sell in some of the UAE’s most high-end stores. She seeks to diversify to different media activities.

Among the list, 83 are from UAE alone. The names from Qatar and KSA are six and four respectively. Kuwait and Oman has three each while Bahrain has only one name. It will be interesting to see in the coming years whether representation from countries other than UAE will increase.

RLD and Congress finalises the election pact in Uttar Pradesh

Shri Dig Vijaya Singh ji
The  Congress general secretary and the highly respected leader of the nation and theGeneral Secretary  Incharge of the UP Shri Digvijaya Singh ji formally announced on Saturday evening that the Congress and the RLD have entered into a poll pact for UP assembly elections due in April 2012.
Shri Dig Vijaya Singh ji is in Lucknow along with Shri Rahul Gandhi ji to oversee election preparations. He informed the media that RLD chief Ajit Singh met Congress president Smt.Sonia Gandhi in Delhi to seal the deal. He said that RLD has decided to join Congress led UPA government at the Centre. The list of assembly constituencies Congress has decided to give RLD will be released in couple of days. He said that the Congress has so far announced names for 213 assembly seats in UP and remaining would be announced within a week.
Total number of assembly seats in UP are 403. Congress is expected to give around 50 seats to RLD along with berth in union cabinet to Ajit Singh.
Shri Dig Vijay Singh also announced that the Central government would soon announce quota for Muslims within quota fixed for the other backward classes (OBC) on the basis of their population. Denying that quota is being given on religious lines, he said that quota to Muslims would be given on the basis of their socio-economic status. Citing example of several southern states where Muslims are getting quota within OBC quota, he said that the reservation would be for the minorities and since Muslims are the biggest minority group, the community will get the highest share in quota within quota.
The move is expected to help Congress get Muslim votes in UP assembly elections. Muslims are 20% of the state population.
Shri Dig vijaya Singh also said that foreign direct investment (FDI) in retail sector will benefit farmers and consumers by establishing a supply chain which will sideline middlemen. He said that Congress in its campaign for UP elections will make people aware of the benefits of FDI. He also said that Congress's main poll issue would be corruption during Mayawati rule. He said that Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi will start his second phase of mass contact programme in UP on December 13 in which he will cover west UP.
Shri Ajit Singh ji
The decision of the RLD, which has five MPS, to join UPA government will strengthen both the RLD and the Congress. RLD has base among farmers of west UP, hence Shri Ajit Singh's decision to join UPA government will help Congress in communicating to farmers about the benefits of FDI.
Shri Ajit singh has realised that Congress is the only party which can bring the change in the UP by defeating the most corrupt Mayawati government. The dynamism and the determination of our Youth Icon Shri Rahul ji's untiring efforts will bring the congress back in power in UP. Under the inspiring leadership of Shri Dig Vijaya Singh ji, the congress won 22 seats in 2009 lok sabha elections which is quite evident that the people of UP want a change and they regret their decision of 2007 elections and Mayawati is losing ground in UP in all the regions. Her recent prank of diving UP into four smaller states was not received well by the people and she has miserably failed there and this manipulation would backfire in the 2012 elections.
The Congress party is founded on the basic principle of nation building and beleives in  the highest secular values and has leaders like Shri Dig Vijaya Singh ji who enjoys the complete confidence of muslims all over the country.

Kiran Kumar Reddy approves new schemes on Sonia Gandhi's birthday

Smt.Sonia Gandhi

On the occasion of the birthday of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, our beloved chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy approved important files relating to four schemes on Friday. The schemes, which are intended to benefit women, farmers and SCs/STs will additionally burden the exchequer to the tune of Rs 2,397 crore.

Of the four files, the first one relates to interest free loans to 1.1 crore women. The government will bear the interest burden to the tune of Rs 1,400 crore. The second file relates to the sanction of Rs 50 crore grant to provide an additional amount of Rs 200 per tonne to sugarcane under nine cooperative sugar factories . The third relates to the enhancement of mandays from the present 100 days to 200 days in the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS). It also includes enhancement of drought pension to the tune of 10 per cent for December and 20 percent for January. The state government will bear the additional cost of Rs 200 crore for the purpose. The fourth file relates to providing basic infrastructure in 3,000 SC/ST colonies at an estimated cost of Rs 747 crore.
Shri N.Kiran Kumar Reddy

The members of self help groups (SHGs) will get interest-free loans up to Rs 5 lakh from January 1, 2012. However, women would be eligible for interest waiver only if they ensure prompt repayment. As banks are now charging 14 per cent interest on loans to SHGs, the interest-free loans would cause a financial burden of Rs 1,400 crore on the state government.

The state has planned a comprehensive five-year package for the sugarcane sector, which will be announced soon. The government is in the process of getting inputs from experts in the industry.

Major infrastructure drive to improve living conditions in SC/ST colonies has been approved by the chief minister on Friday. The construction of concrete drains in the low lying SC/ST colonies will improve the overall hygienic conditions of the area. The rural connectivity is now one of the permissible categories of works under the NREGS.

The district collectors can now accord administrative sanctions for creation of concrete internal roads, including pucca drains in selected SC/ST localities, not exceeding 5 each in erstwhile block subject to wage and material ratio under the NREGS. Grama panchayats having predominantly SC/ST populations will be considered in selection of the 5 SC/ST locations. Grama sabhas will pass the resolutions to take up the pucca internal roads and drains in selected SC/ST locations.

Mohammed Azharuddin and the Cricket Academy

Mohammed Azharuddin

I have been thinking for quite sometime to write an article or a blog on this subject and finally, today I could sit and write. I could have written anytime but it is such an important blog that I feel would be read, shared and recommended by many and might even become a movement and a public demand. As we all know that Mohammed Azharuddin emerged in the cricketing world as a legend with a grand and the historic entry of three consecutive centuries in first three test matches on the trot. What a way to start off the career. I am sure the legends of criecket must have envied his debut and he just didn't stop there and went on to become the most successful captains in the history of Indian Cricket. He is the one who started the winning streak and developed the killing stint in the Team India. He was truely a god gifted cricketer all in one. He is the one who raised the fielding standard of the team India.

It was Azharuddin whose grace and his wristy magic had once prompted John Woodcock, a noted, renowned and respected Cricket writer, to say " Its no use asking an Englishman to bat like Mohammed Azharuddin. For, it would be like expecting a greyhound to win the London Derby".

Mohammed Azharuddin, comes from the city of pearls and it very rarely happens that the city which is famous for pearls has also produced a diamond who took the entire world under his spell. The city of Hydeabad boosts of many things but unfortunately what is missing here is the World Class Cricket Academy in the very city of Hyderabad where Azharuddin belongs to and was once known as Azhar's city. Azhar had put Hyderbad on the global map and the then Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had requested Azhar to come and share the dias with Mr.President Bill Clinton when he had visited Hyderabad because Chandrababu knew there is nobody who could match the calibre of Clinton, but Azhar was on his national duty and playing in Dubai and BCCI did'nt allow Azhar to visit Hyderabad for a day as without him, BCCI felt the team composition would be weak and the same Chandrababu Naidu had turned down the application of Mohammed Azharuddin for setting up the world Class Cricket Complex in Hyderabad. I would like to mention here that it was the same Chandra Babu Naidu was running after the MNC's literally begging to come and set up their shops on the wakf properties in Hyderabad but ignored what could have been the world's famous destination the "Azhar's Cricket Academy and Complex".

However, Chandra Babu was kind enough to have alloted the land to Pullela Gopichand to set up a huge Academy and the Stadium for the less popular game, but I appreciate this. Every sport should be encouraged and partronised by the state but why, in case of Azhar, Chandra babu has shown an indifferent attitude. Was it because of his proximaity to the NDA or was his political compulsion to be in the good books of his political bosses Advani ji and Vajpayee ji. Why this discrimination with Mohammed Azharuddin. ?

It is high time that the state government should come forward and invite Azhar to set up the world class Cricket Complex in Hyderabad which would be a real tribute to Azhar's services to the game of Cricket. Through his willow, he won the hearts of millions of peopel across the religious beliefs and they all loved him and continue doing so which has become evident in 2009 lok sabha elections where he won with a grand majority.

Shri N.Kiran Kumar Reddy, Hon'ble CM, A.P.

This is the perfect timing as the beloved Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Shri N.Kiran Kumar Reddy is also a cricketer and Azhar palyed under his captaincy and it will be a feather in the cap of our beloved Chief Minister if the land is alloted to Mohd.Azharuddin to set up the Cricket Academy, his long standing dream  would be cherished.

Recently, a renowned writer and a historian Mr.Amaresh Misra has written a very good article in Times of India wherein he has eloborately described Azhar's contribution for the cause of Secularism. He writes that just 54 days after the demolition of the Babri Mosque, on 29th January 1993, Azharuddin scored a rollicking 182 against England at Eden Gardens. Scored in a characteristic, elegant and flowing, style, with the wrist flick in full display, Azhar’s century played a vital role in cooling tempers right after the highly unfortunate Ayodhya event. In fact, more than any Hindu-Muslim bhai bhai rhetoric, Azhar’s rise as one of India’s best  cricketer, his  successful stint of captaincy, kept Muslim youths away from rebellion in the 1990s, when Sangh Parivar-right wing forces were mercilessly trying to kill Muslims and destroy India’s secular fabric.

A nation which should have been grateful to one of its patriotic sons has not even reinstated Azhar’s reputation after nothing was found against him in the match fixing controversy. Then in 2009, Azhar joined politics and won the Moradabad Parliamentary constituency from a Congress ticket. The Cricket Academy will inspire the YOUTH of not only the state but of the entire country to emulate this great cricketer and we can see many Azharuddins being produced.

Muslims and the National Commission for Minorities

Khaleequr Rahman and Wajahat Habeebullah saheb

Senior Congress Leader Khaleequr Rahman has met the Chairperson National Minorities Commission Janab Wajahat Habeebtullah saheb on Dec 5, 2011 and discussed various issues concerning the minorities in the country and specially about the means and the measures with regard to the effective implementation of the PM's 15 point program.

Khaleequr Rahman suggested that an independent board or the corporation should be formed both at the national and the state level for the proper and the effective implementation of the program and the schemes. The monitoring should be on the lines of the PM's 20 Points program and the proper co-ordination between the government, corporations and District collectors must be ensured for the more effective implemention of the programs and the schemes. He said that during the interaction with the people, he found that there is almost zero level awareness among the minorites with regard to the PM's 15 point program. Unless the awareness is created, we can not expect the people to get benefitted from these schemes.

Khaleequr Rahman suggested that more and more youth should be involved by the Commission and their services should be utilised to create the awareness among the minorities and take these schemes to their doorsteps for the optimum utilisation of the schemes. This needs to be done till the awareness is created and a well planned awareness campaign must be launched. There is a need to work at the grassroot level and proper propogation of the schemes under the PM's 15 point program through the extensive coverage in the media. More and More NGO's should be encouraged to work with the Commision. He also urged that the muslim representation at the governance level is almost nil. When the minorties programs and the schems are being drafted by the government, it should be taken into consideration that there should be atleast one minority representative on every such body who can help in formulating more effective and useful schemes for the minorities developemt.

The Chairperson Janab Wajahat Habeebtullah assured Khaleequr Rahman that he would surely consider his suggestions. He also informed khaleequr Rahman that he is visitng Hyderabd on Dec 16, 2011. Khaleequr Rahman requested him to convene a meeting of the minorty representatives and the officials to review the implementation of the schemes and solicit the advices and the suggestions for the proper and more effective implementation of the schemes. Khaleequr Rahman also briefed the NCM Chairperson about the various schemes initiated by our dynamic Chief Minister Shri N.Kiran Kumar Reddy saheb for the benefit and the welfare of the minorities and the NCM Chairperson lauded the initiative and the concern of our beloved CM.

Khaleequr Rahman explained that our beloved leader UPA Chairperson Smt.Sonia Gandhi is always concerned about the welfare of the minorties and it is during the UPA regime that many new schemes have been sanctioned for the upliftment of the minorities. He also informed that Rahul Gandhi is fighting for the cause of Minorities and the secularism and fighting a battle in UP against the most autocratic government of Mayawati under whose rule the minorities especially muslims and the left wing Dalits have been suppressed. Congress has proved that it is the only party in the country who is founded on the principles and the values of the nation building and secularism whereas the BJP and the right wing forces have no idealogy of Nation Building. We have seen what happened during the NDA regime. How can we muslims forget Malegoan, Godhra and the Samjhota Express. The congress throughout the country has been always concerned about the well being and protection of the muslims and it was the congress government in 1993, which formed the National Minorities Commission to safeguards the interests of the Minorities.

Congress has leaders and statesman like Shri Dig Vijaya Singh ji who is considered a messiah of the Minorities especially the muslims in the country. His bold and courageous stand on the muslim issues and especially his support  for the muslim youth who have been harrassed in the name of the terrorism is commendable and laudable and muslims always look upto him for their voice. The conspiracy of the right wing forces and the Mayawati in the UP against the dream of our beloved leader Rahul Gandhi will be defeated by the people of UP in 2012 and the people of UP will teach these facist forces a good lesson.

The recent allegation of Kambli against Mohammed Azharuddin is nothing but a conspiracy of the right wing forces who are scared of his popularity among the youth and his growing grip in the UP politics. Recently Shri Amaresh Misra, a renowned Historian and a secularist has written an artcile titled Azharuddin and Malegoan which has received overwhelming response from all across the globe. This article can be seen on the social networking sites and also on the Times of India site under the blogs.

Vinod Kambli...Spineless creature

Mohd.Khaleequr Rahman and Legendry Mohammed Azharuddin

Before I start writing my blog on the incorrigable Kambli, I would like to clarify that I am writing this as a cricket enthusiast and the responsible citizen of the country who like any other citizen loves the game of cricket and its true sportsman spirit. Cricket, as we all know is a gentleman's game but sometimes unfortunately the characterless creatures like Kambli emerge from the dirty drains which brings the bad name to the gentleman's game.

Kambli had raised questions marks about the 1996 world cup semi final match between India and Srilanka which was played in Kolkatta hinting that it could have been fixed. And when did he raise this question..he raised this question in November 2011 after almost about fifteen long years. What was Kambli doing all these days. As Azharuddin pinted out that when the decision to bowl was taken, Kambli must have been sleeping and I would further add that he must not only have been sleeping but must have been intoxicated under the influence of alcohal. This only shows that Kambli has lost his mental balance and his character from the day one is a question mark. He even did not spare his child hood buddy Sachin Tendulkar last year when he said that if Sachin wanted, Sachin could have helped him in his career. How can anybody help somebody like Kambli who lacks the character, the discipline, the moral ethics, the basic values and what not. I am feeling ashamed to write that anybody by name Kambli ever played for India.

I have been glued to the TV channels eversince this news started coming on the TV channels and  everybody has supported Mr.Azharuddin saying that it was the collective decision of the team to bowl. The Likes of Kapil Dev, Ajit Wadekar, Madan Lal and Saurav Ganguly, they all had solidly supported Mohd.Azharuddin saying that a person like Vinod Kamlbi whose character is well known can not be taken seriously and they all dismissed Kambli's allegations outrightly.

As we all know Kambli has stooped to the levels that nobody can steep down to. He seems to be a frustrated guy looking for the cheap publicity as he was not getting any importance and the news coverage. He must have thought that Azhar's name is a big name in the cricketing world and if Kambli makes an allegation against Azharuddin, he would immediatly get the media attention and so he stooped down to this level and just made an allegation withput any proof. Mohd.Azharuddin is known for his discipline and honesty throughout the world and those who know Azhar personally would vouch for his honesty and integrity. Kambli can not even reach the dirt of Azhar's shoes.

I am happy that the ICC President Sharad Pawar has joined the BCCI in dismissing Kambli's allegations. Sharad Pawar rightly said that if Kambli was honest and committed cricketer, he should have informed then only but he woke up after fifteen years which means that Kambli's statement is irresponsible and baseless. This was reported in Hindustan Times of November 19, 2011.

I request all the cricket loving citizens of the country and the BCCI for a social boycott of classless and characterless Kambli and beware other cricketers from this barking dog.

Bharatpur attack once again exposes police’s discrimination

The Gopalgarh (Kasbah) mosque
Gopalgarh Kasbah (a small town) comes in the Assembly segment of Kaman in Rajasthan's Bharatpur district. I have many friends  who come from Mewat from whom I have taken the grass root details of the shocking incident of secular India in a Congress ruled state in which ten members of the Meo Muslim community were killed on September 14, 2011 when the police fired at the mosque while rioters belonging to another community attacked them. According to the sources, of the 23 people injured in the violence, 19 were Meos.
This eastern  part of Rajasthan is contiguous with the Meo Muslim-dominated areas of Haryana. The Meos of Bharatpur share many cultural traits with other communities living in perfect harmony , and such violence in the area had not been reported in the past.
I was told that the dispute that triggered the violence was over a few bighas of land behind the mosque, which also included a “Kuvan” i.e. a waterhole. The violence seems to have been one-sided because all the dead and most of the injured belonged to one community and were all killed in police firing. This very clearly shows that the police colluded with the rioters otherwise an incident of this nature would not have happened.  Unfortunately the State Home Minister Mr.Shanti Dhariwal defended the firing by the police. No wonder, the RSS seems to have planted its men in Congress too and Mr.Shanti Dhariwal seems to be representing RSS in the Rajasthan cabinet. It really shocks me that even after 21 days of the incident, the Home Minister still continues to be a Minister and has not been sacked.  Mr.Ashok Gehlot, the hon’ble CM of Rajasthan has the secular credentials and he should sack the Home Minister without further delay. I really applaud the efforts of the Rahul Gandhi and his office in swinging the entire official machinery into action. This is highly commendable. His office has been working 24/7 to monitor the situation and doing justice with the victims.  As the saying goes, where there is a will, there is a way. This gets proved by the actions of the Rahul Gandhi ji and his team which has come to the rescue of the Meo muslims and restored their confidence. This shows that the minorities especially the muslims will be safe under the Congress regime and the dynamic and the most secular leadership of Rahul Gandhi ji.
The mosque in question was used, along with another one in Gopalgarh, by people from the surrounding 38 villages. Members of the Gujjar community asserted their claim to the waterhole, which they used for their livestock. In response to a case filed by Meo Muslims in the Pahadi district court, the tehsildar of Pahadi issued on September 13 an order under Section 30 of the Land Revenue Act asking the Gujjars to vacate the land. The agitated Gujjars allegedly beat up the imam, Abdul Rashid, who lived in the Gopalgarh Kasbah near the mosque after news of the order spread. Tempers rose, and soon agitated groups of the two communities got together to debate further action.
The next day, leaders of the two communities met to try and resolve the matter. However, rumours seemed to fly thick and fast, and members of both communities reportedly gathered near the mosque. It is not known what provoked the police action which was not required all and where the issue could have been resolved with the delibrations.  The police version is that they fired to prevent an armed confrontation between the two groups. The mosque, built about a decade ago, is constructed on a mound. It is flanked by an idgah, a burial ground and a smaller mosque in the rear.
Some Unanswered questions
Most versions suggest there were no deaths before the police arrived on the scene and started firing at the mosque. Besides, most of the victims were Meos, a fact that seems to suggest a deliberate attack on the community rather than a fight between the two communities.
There are other disturbing suggestions left by the violence. The  leading newspapers report that their visit to the mosque briefly, found it badly vandalised. Most of the victims were apparently killed inside the mosque, and there were bloodstains on the floor. An iron door had deep serrations on it, indicating that an attempt had been made to hack it open. A metal trunk lay unlocked; its contents had been looted and the lid had deep marks on it, suggesting that an axe or some sharp tool had been used to prise it open. Two bodies, burnt beyond recognition, were found in a well in the idgah compound; ropes and an empty fuel canister were found nearby.  Footage of the burnt corpses, taken by an organisation called Anhad of Shabnam Hashmi much before the police spotted them, were given to the media.
Though Meos form the numerical majority in Gopalgarh, Gujjars and other caste Hindus have a sizable presence and many of them live in the Kasbah and the adjoining area. There are also a few Meo families in the Kasbah, mostly of the butcher (kasai) caste, including that of the assaulted imam. The mosque, which is among the more imposing structures in Gopalgarh, is less than 700 metres from the local police station.
Questions are being raised on how matters could reach such a stage with the police station so close, and why the police action had such a tragic consequence.
Local Meos who witnessed the violence are unhappy with the police action and the administration's role. It is said that the people had assembled at the mosque for evening prayers when a police vehicle driving down the Sikri road began firing towards the mosque. The people inside the mosque saw armed Gujjars descending from the end.  Some makeshift shops owned by Meos in the Kasbah were also vandalised. There is a feeling among ordinary citizens that the administration is always partial.

It is said that about half of the 19 policemen at the local police station are Gujjars.  Meos, therefore seldom approach the police station for help. Zahida Khan, the Congress legislator from Kaman Assembly segment, was present at the meeting where the two communities were trying to come to a settlement on September 14 before matters went out of hand.  Anita Singh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator from Nagar Assembly segment, was also present at that meeting. So was, according to local people, Gyan Chand Ahuja, the BJP MLA from Ramgarh in Alwar district. He reportedly played a role in stoking the fire. There were also others who wanted a flare-up, according to local Meos, and they included advocates and teachers owing allegiance to right-wing Hindutva groups.
The State government has ordered a judicial inquiry. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been asked to investigate the incident.  The Meos have traditionally voted for the Congress. But members of the Meo community expressed unhappiness that a Congress delegation comprising Members of Parliament Rashid Alvi, Viplove Thakur, Deependra Hooda and Vijay Bahaguna spent very little time interacting with witnesses and families of the victims. The delegation blamed the police for the excesses and was also critical of the State Home Minister.
In 2005, the Haryana government carved out Mewat district from Gurgaon and Faridabad. Mewat has borders with three other districts, Gurgaon in the north, Rewari in the west, Palwal in the east, and also with Rajasthan in the south. The Mewat region spreads over three States, and the populations of Meos are roughly equal in Haryana and Rajasthan. There is therefore cultural as well as geographical contiguity. The region as a whole is considered backward in terms of social indices, especially education. The Congress government led by Ashok Gehlot may not be biased against any community, but it has given out no indication of a strong political will to deal firmly with such issues. It is not just a law and order problem in Gopalgarh or the Mewat region as a whole. It is the selective application of the use of force by the law enforcement agencies that is deeply worrying. In the Bharatpur case, for instance, a CBI probe was ordered only after vociferous demands were made by several groups.
It is the duty and the responsibility of the state government to provide the security to the muslim community from the police and the Rajasthan's Home Minister should have been sacked by now. The PM's fifteen point program clearly says that "In the areas, which have been identified as communally sensitive and riot prone districts and police officials of the highest known efficiency, impartiality and secular record must be posted. In such areas and even elsewhere, the prevention of communal tension should be one of the primary duties of the district magistrate and superintendent of police. Their performance in this regard should be an important factor in determining their promotion prospects.". This is not being implemented in any of the state in India. I through your platform urge and appeal to the government to make the implementation of such rules more effective by monitoring directly from the centre in co-ordination with the state governments. The PMO should call for an explanation from the state government.

Khak-e-Taiba Trust celeberates 20 years Celeberations

Khak-e-Taiba Trust is celebrating the 20 years of their exemplary service to the mankind on September 4, 2011 in Hyderabad.  The Khak-e-Taiba Trust was founded  in the year 1990 by a group of young expatriates from Hyderabad residing in Jeddah who felt the need to establish an organization dedicated towards serving the underprivileged amongst the Muslim community.  The leading Hyderabadis of those days came forward and associated themselves with this noble idea for a noble cause – to name a few: Laique Hussain, Shameem Kauser, Siadat Ali Khan, Late M.A. Samad, Minhajul Hassan, Azeem Qureishi,  Sadiq Ali, Mohammed Shokoor, Dr. Syed Ali, Dr. Shams Babar,  Jawed Siddique, Mohd. Yusuf, Mohd. Shujauddin, Ahmad Ali Khan and several others.
These pioneers than approached leading luminaries of Hyderabad to establish a legal trust and to enrich its working with the involvement of leaders in the muslim community – Late Janab Abid Ali Khan, Late Janab Wali Qadri , Janab Syed Azmatullah, Janab Ghulam Yazdani, Janab Zahid Ali Khan  were some of the people associated with the trust. A trust deed was made and duly registered in Hyderabad.  Janab Abid Ali Khan was the first chairman and Janab Ghulam Yazdani was the first Managing Trustee.
The first decade: 1991-2000
The first project undertaken was purchase of an ambulance to meet the growing need of Muslims in the old city to reach a hospital in time of emergencies.  This was a major achievement and thousands of Muslims benefited from this project.  Scholarships to Muslim students to encourage education were also started.  In Jeddah a KTT committee was formed.  This committee was a think tank and fund raising committee to establish various projects in Hyderabad.  Automation and computerization had made major inroads in Saudi Arabia.  Employees were given notices to either learn computers within a specified time or face termination.  The then members of the KTT Jeddah committee once again rose to the occasion and established the KTT computer Training center at Jamjoom building, Jeddah.  With a humble beginning of a single room with three computers, the KTT started coaching of computer software to students from various nationalities free of cost.  Hundreds of jobs were saved from this project.
New people were roped in to infuse fresh ideas and organizational expansion.  Mohammed Haseebullah, Majeed Ansari, Abdul Malik, Ahmed A. Hakeem, Shakeel Afsar were some of the community leaders of those times who joined in the KTT.  The computer center expanded from one flat to the present four flats with around 40 state of computers with around 17 different courses.  A project started under the stewardship if Dr. Syed Ali, nurtured and expanded by Mohammed Haseebullah was then taken to dizzying heights by its present director A.A. Hakeem.  To date more than 17000 students benefited from this center to date.  More than 10,000 people got employment after completion of their course at this centre.
In Hyderabad, the KTT expanded its activities in setting up tailoring and embroidery training and production centers, leather goods making training and productions centers in different localities for predominantly economically backward Muslim women.  Mobile clinics, Medical camps, education scholarships were some of the other activities in the initial phase.

In Jeddah, more and more leaders of the Indian community came forward to associate themselves with KTT – Badar Ansari, Obaid Bajhao, Salabat Lodhi, Sultan Mazharuddin, Mahmood Balsharaf,  M.A. Mateen, Anwar Sharfuddin, Aleem Khan Falki, Syeed Shaukat, Jamal Qaudri, Abdul Haq Hashim, Jamal Quadri, Ajaz Khan, Afsar Faheem and several others joined in.  New initiatives were taken – fund raising  activities like Mushairah (poetry reading) was undertaken.  KTT Jeddah participated in several humane causes’ activities like the Gujrat riots victims, earthquake and other natural calamaties.  While the KTT computer center added employable skill training, spoken English, organized lectures by eminent speakers.  KTT Jeddah had the privilege of having well wishers like Late Janab Maslehuddin Saadi, Janab Tariq Ghazi, Janab Fizaur Rahman and others.
The second decade: 2000 to date
During the course of the first decade of KTT several projects were undertaken, some continue to date and some were given up as per need.   Some associates passed away, some others left the organization but remained well wishers, some new enthusiasts joined in.
Major projects undertaken by KTT in Hyderabad in the past 9 years include the establishment of a Vocational training college – duly recognized by the Board of intermediate education, Government of AP – we run Primary Teachers Training course, Computer application courses, and AutoCAD courses – duly recognized and regulated by BIE.  Tailoring and embroidery courses, short term coaching for school going students etc.  All these are conducted at Golconda.
In 2006 – KTT undertook the major responsibility of reviving the Mohidasse Deccan School in the premises of Dargah Abdullah Shah Sahab.  Beginning with just 52 students in a shamble shed – in three years the school has on roll 292 students from KG to X.  The school is run on pattern of convent schools with English medium, uniforms, school band and compulsory Islamic teaching.  This KTT project in Misrigunj also has a huge centre for tailoring and embroidery training center, a free poly clinic and pathological lab.  Majority of the students at the school and the training centers come from below the poverty line families, slum dwellers, orphans etc. We have now undertaken an ambitious project of constructing a permanent structure which can house not just the school, the training center but also become a hub for major educational and vocational training for the most underprivileged among the community.  At Moghulpura we have a tailoring and embroidery center, pot painting and Mehendi designing training and a clinic.
 I request and advise
you all to be a part of this organization with your ideas, funds and suggestions.

As the holy Quran says, “can there be any reward for goodness except good?”
